Registration FAQ's
How do I know if A Joyful Noise is the right preschool for my child?
The best way to know if AJN is the right school for your child is to visit our school, meet our teachers, and see our children in action. Visitations take place each fall and spring as well as upon request. To RSVP or to learn about upcoming dates email our Registrar, Linda Flinn.
What are my chances of getting in?
AJN serves approximately 125 families and their children each year. We will always do our best to accomodate your needs.
How many spots are open to new families and how many are filled by returning AJN families?
The specific number of spots filled with returning families changes each year due to families "graduating" from the program. We highly encourage you to apply and will do our best to accommodate your needs.
Where do most of your families live?
A Joyful Noise children come from all over the North Shore. Most of our families live in Kenilworth, Wilmette, Winnetka, Northfield, Glencoe, Evanston and Northbrook. They go on to attend various schools in the area.
We just learned we’re moving to the area and registration is well underway. Is there any chance there is still an opening at AJN?
Absolutely. We encourage you to apply and contact our Registrar for specific information. We will do our best to accommodate your needs.
Once my son/daughter is enrolled will our younger child have a place at AJN?
Returning families and KUC members receive priority in registration. Once your child is accepted into the Two’s program, they are guaranteed a spot in our Three’s and JK program.
What is Creations?
Creations is a unique creative arts program incorporating music, drama, stories, arts and crafts – all with a Christian theme. It is an extra curricular program available to all preschoolers and kindergarteners ages 3 - 5. You need not be a member of KUC or enrolled in AJN to attend. The class is one day a week for two hours and is offered Monday - Thursday, morning and afternoon, September - May. For more information please look under Programs or email our Registrar, Linda Flinn.
What if the class we applied for is full?
We encourage families to place their names on our waitlist. There can be movement due to family relocations or changing needs causing spots to open.
Does it matter when I return my application? Should I try to apply early?
There is no advantage to turning in your application “early”. It only needs to be in by the application due date as listed on our calendar. Everyone who has their application in by this date has an equal opportunity based on priority status. Each lottery is conducted as a random drawing.
Why is it necessary to prioritize/preference class choices on my application?
Our registration is lottery based and we slot children into programs based on availability at the time your number is pulled in the lottery. Prioritzing your choices is essential.
